Fiber optic adapters are also commonly called flanges. They are mainly used to connect and fix fiber optic connectors so that optical signals can be transmitted with minimal insertion loss. The connection method of MPO fiber optic adapters is different from that of single-core SC fiber optic adapters. The SC fiber optic adapter is equipped with a ceramic sleeve inside, which is used to accurately align the SC connector ferrule when connected. The MPO adapter uses two guide holes with a diameter of 0.7mm on the left and right of the MPO connector ferrule end face and a guide pin (also called a PIN pin) for precise connection. Therefore, there is no single-mode or multi-mode distinction between MPO adapters, and the distinction between single-mode and multi-mode between SC fiber optic adapters is due to different sleeve quality. MPO adapters are widely used in base stations of communication systems, optical fiber distribution frames (ODFs) in building computer rooms, MPO boxes, and various test instruments.
